Hi and Welcome to Wigan Barbell Personal Training, I'm Jamie, a certified Level 3 Personal Trainer. I am currently based at Catt's Gym in Orrell Wigan and also offer group exercise sessions to local workplaces.
After working a number of years in commercial gyms with over 100 clients on a 1:1 basis and group exercise I've seen what works and what doesn't work. It is for this reason that I finished working in commercial gyms and started up on my own.
I have tried all the diets and all the fancy training regimes but I find myself coming back to the basics...Compound lifts/multi joint exercises, moving the body as a unit and focusing on systemic development as opposed to trying to isolate each individual muscle. (You cannot will a muscle to grow).
What I value the most in my work is offering the entire package: meaningful and informed training, and knowledge of healthy nutrition. These two combined make us healthier and stronger not only physically in the gym but also mentally in everyday life.
I believe training should be fun yet hard but not hell. I aim for my clients to finish their session with a positive mind set and looking forward to their next session knowing they are that little bit closer to achieving their goals. If training is fun and enjoyable it is sustainable and with sustainability you cannot lose.
I understand that training is hard and people find it 'hard to make the time' to fit the gym into there daily routine, working a full time job, having a family, being a working mum etc but when you put things into perspective; There are 168 hours in 1 week, by just devoting 3 of those hours a week to training you can develop an impressive physique and a healthy lifestyle. A one hour workout is just 4% of your day. It isn't about 'having time', its about making time and if something matters to you and you're committed you will make the time.
